A Little Sanity, Please
I’m really, really mad. I’m not even an American, but I am transfixed and horrified by the whole “Planned Parenthood” debacle. The logic in these proceedings is non-existent.
Some people believe that abortion is murder. To prove that point, congress restricts access to sex education and contraception, two things that are proven to decrease demand for abortions. Then, once an impoverished and uneducated woman has a baby, a supposed victory for the pro-life cause, congress tries do as little as humanly possible to assist her in raising, feeding, and educating that baby.
Yeah, that makes lots of sense.
Pro-lifers, you want a real, sensible solution to lowering the abortion rate? Stop resorting to demonizing women and taking away their choices. Educate them about sex. Provide them contraception. Fund programs for single mothers and poor families. Make sure no woman has to choose between a high-school education and teen-aged motherhood. Make it so a woman doesn’t have to choose between being able to afford rent or feeding her kids. If you care about the life that those fetuses represent to you, prove it. Invest in their lives. Give women more options.
But you don’t really care about those women, do you? You’d rather let them die then give them a medically necessary abortion. You’d rather let kids remain with substandard babysitters then afford them decent childcare. You’d rather make life for single, poor mothers as embarrassing and humiliating as possible then help them raise the life that you supposedly value.
You’re hypocrites. You’d rather hold the world to your warped version of morality then help a fellow human being. You don’t care about life, just your moral agenda. You have no compassion, and no empathy. Yet you are a superior human being because you believe abortion is wrong?
Put your money where your mouth is, or sit down and STFU. Let Planned Parenthood try to do what you refuse to.
